Mama. . .take a good look at yourself. How are you doing modesty-wise? Is there anything you could change? Does your heart convict you? Do you listen and make changes?
Do you think modesty means frumpy? old fashioned? ugly? Do you think it means t-shirts and baggy jeans?
Mama, take care of yourself. Pray and ask God to inspire you on creative ways to stay attractive through the years. Take a look at Proverbs 31 and ask yourself if you are reflecting what you see there and if not, where could you begin?
Should every woman wear ruffles and lace? No. When people see an ambassador of Jesus Christ – should their thoughts be drawn to your plunging neckline, short shorts, short skirt or tight jeans?
Do you have a daughter? Think about what she is seeing and hearing. Begin how you mean to go. If how she is dressing today won’t fly tomorrow, you might want to rethink the path you are on. She won’t have such a challenge in the future if you start her in a way that is lovely and pure while she is young.
You don’t need rules and guidelines, God Himself will affirm you. Ask Him and He will show you. It’s not complicated, just uncomfortable sometimes to be different.
What are you doing to take care of yourself? Anything special? Have you found it challenging to be modest?
Finally, scripture says a godly woman should be characterized by good works. You will never go wrong focusing on inward character and loving others and dressing in a way that points people back to the inner man and not the outer person. Your actions speak louder than words. Be your lovely self and please check your heart.
My hope and prayer is to live in a way that honors God and leads my beautiful daughters down a godly path that will not fail them. May they in turn, focus on honoring God with their lovely works and ways!
