We keep a basket or small cooler filled with water bottles, fruit, food bars, raisins, dates, nuts, etc. ready to go. This saves us money, time and keeps the children happy! Pack plenty!

Get into the habit of stopping at grocery stores vs. fast food stores. This really works and only takes a few minutes of your time.
Stock paper towels or wet wipes in your car, along with plasticware.
Steak Houses – usually have an excellent salad bar. You can order a baked potato and the “veggie of the day” on the side
Ethnic Restaurants – offer great vegetarian entrees. Chinese, Korean, Indian, Thai, Mexican
Common Franchises offer salads, grilled veggies, veggie burgers
If you are stuck somewhere with poor choices, do your best. .if you are in a restaurant and you see a variety of vegetables on the menu, just ask if the cook can prepare some lightly cooked veggies for you. Let them know you are making an effort to eat better and they are usually happy to help you!
If you are going to be with friends or family, you can simply eat whatever is offered to you, or you can call ahead and offer to bring a side salad and one other healthy dish. Let them know you are making an effort to eat more raw fruits and vegetables and that you appreciate their understanding. People need to see other people making good choices. You might be the very person who’s example encourages someone else to make a health change.
